House Rules

As I write this, I am watching “House”, one of a plethora of tv medical dramas that somehow prides itself on medical factuality (nice F hook there), by creating stories out of rare medical anomalies that don’t actually apply to real people in most circumstances. If you’re not familiar with the show, it stars Briton Hugh Laurie, who plays a cranky old genius–he might get along with some expert Scrabblers.

Twenty-one players were in the house on Thursday for some MSC infighting. Of those, a pair of husband-wife duos ran the show. Lou and Lilla both won 3 games and they were the only players to do it. Fishy, isn’t it? Regardless, Lilla was the big ratings gainer, going up 33 points. My diagnosis: Too smart for their own good.

Give me 26 CC’s of Club Championship points, stat! Dave rises 14 points and sits atop Division B, with his wife Shauna adjacent after climbing 12.

Mike and Audrey each benefitted from a pair of wins and a fast newcomer pulse to increase their ratings 24 and 32, respectively.

Due to problems with computer hookups, we did good old-fashioned word list lookups. This added our own element of drama to the night. “The play is…” How long of a pause am I allowed to take? “…acceptable”. I probably could’ve used the frequent opportunities to flip through and find bingos of my own, but I might be accused of malpractice.

But the biggest news may be that we announced our 2010 tournament. Check out the details by clicking on the Tourney button at the top of the page. Feedback is greatly appreciated. You can email me or comment here. Now I demand that you all attend–Director’s orders.

  1. Have you given any thought to doing stand-up for a living Shan? You’re just too funny!!!

  2. I’ve thought about it, but I doubt I could do it “for a living”, considering the danger of people throwing things at me.
