Thrice is Right

Last night was money night. We dangled a $10 bill overhead for anyone who pulled off three wins. Unlike a couple weeks ago when no one had a flawless evening, this week there was some incentive and 3 big winners.

So congratulations to Shauna, Paul and Valeria! These three entrepreneurs get their hands on the dough for winning their games. Not only that, but they are also awarded some handsome rating gains. As for the rest of us… we got hustled!

Paul increases his rating by 32 as he also earns a crisp Sir John A. Macdonald. If you remember our first Prime Minister (he came to the club a few times back in the day), you may recall he resigned after the Pacific Scandal in which he was accused of taking bribes. I may find myself in the same position now–you see, Paul “wins” $10 and suspiciously registers for our upcoming tournament on the same night. I might be hated, derated and berated after Paul gets rebated.

Our Treasurer, Valeria, can take from club funds and pocket ten bucks while her rating climbs 29 points. This is her impressive 6th triple-win night of the season.

Shauna threw me down in the showcase showdown to hit the Triple Win Score. Her rating rises 27 as she challenges her husband for the Division B Championship, and at the same time is making a strong bid to join group A with her rating floating at 1487.

It took our top-rated player at the club, Jnana, to prevent Jeff “The Comeback” Kesner from pulling off the three-win feat. But with his two wins, Jeff, who hadn’t been at the club in over a decade, gets right into the thick of things. Welcome back, Jeff. Apparently, he plays a lot on his iPhone. You won’t find IPHONES* in our lexicon, but you may notice its anagram is PHONIES. Fitting, since almost everyone who owns this device hardly uses it for the purpose of actually calling people.
