summer solstice

This past Thursday, June 17, we had to pull out the evil sit out list for the first time in a while.  Thank you Steve for doing your civic duty.

Vimalan picked up where he left off, from our recent Mississauga tournament.  Vimalan took first prize on June 12,  then polished off 3 more opponents last Thursday, one of them being me.   Winning 10 of  11 is no fluke, his next set of opponents are forewarned.

Club veterans Sophia and Vijay round out the winner’s circle.  Vijay’s fourth perfect outing results in a gain of 28.  Sophia who enjoys Scrabble perfection for the 5th time this season, posted 16 more points and has surpassed me in the standings by 2 — (am I allowed to say boo!)

In the club championship A division, Vijay’s dramatic gain of 28 allowed him to sneak past Jason U.  Yvonne proceeded 15.

In the club championship B division, Sophia climbed a few notches to 4th place.  Dave solidified his lead by 7, in Shauna’s absence.  The gap between first and second is slowly increasing, but there’s lots of season left.

Please remember the club will be CLOSED on July 1, for Canada Day.   Fireworks aside, July 1 is also a special day for Shan’s family.  His brother is getting married.  Shan, congratulations and best wishes to your family.

Happy first day of summer everyone.  I am writing this on June 21.  Earlier this week, one of my clients lamented that summer was almost over.  I pointed out,  it had not started yet.
