Effective immediately, I am suspending Mississauga Scrabble Club in-person weekly meetups until further notice. The session for Thursday, March 12 will be cancelled, and the situation will be continuously assessed.
- We will resume when it is safer from a public health perspective, and also when it is more comfortable. Meetups full of doubt and concern would not be as enjoyable. Many doctors are warning the community that it is worse and riskier than we think, both to ourselves and others.
- Instead of weekly meetups, a biweekly teleconference will take place starting March 19. The purpose of the teleconference will be to focus on how to make Scrabble activities better than ever upon its continuation and well into the future. Details on how to connect to the teleconference to follow.
- We will also immediately investigate ways to foster and improve online play such that the elements of human interaction, welcoming new players, fairness and friendliness are encouraged, especially in the case that the present crisis persists.
Temporarily cancelling Scrabble club might be disappointing to many of you, and probably seem *overboard* to others. But let’s see this as an opportunity to improve the health and wellbeing of our club long into the future.
The Mississauga SCRABBLE® Club will be CLOSED on Thursday, December 29th and will resume play on Thursday, January 5th, 2017.

On July 3, 2014, Mark Edelson scored 714 points in a game against Sinna Vijayakumar.
This incredible high score ties Craig Rowland for the all-time club record for high game in the OWL lexicon. Geoff Newman holds the record for high Collins game at 751.
Mark had 4 bingos, AIRLIFTS, LAYERING, triple-triple PItCHIER, STANCHER and a strong opening play of QUAGGa.
Below are photos Mark’s record-tying game and Craig’s high game.
Congratulations, Mark!
